What Happened to the Clip Art Gallery?: Microsoft's Clip Art Now Powered by Bing Images as of January 2015
The new Microsoft Office option to add clip art or images that are not already saved to a Word or PowerPoint document, is to click Insert, Online Pictures, Bing Image Search (Bing Search is Microsoft’s version of Google Search). According to Microsoft, Bing Image Search provides images that are higher in resolution and more relevant.
Copyright laws prohibit the use of a portion of images students find online. To solve that problem, Bing Image Search will automatically apply a copyright filter to show only Bing results that are royalty-free using a filter based on the Creative Commons licensing system. These are images that you can use, share, or modify for either personal or commercial use, however, they do suggest validating their use. Hovering over the image with your mouse will reveal the image’s source.
