This LMS was selected to pilot by the building's Technology Committee. The committee, started during the 2015-16 school year, was formed with the main goal of getting 6th grade students ready for Digital Conversion starting in September 2016. Sixth grade students pick up their laptops first thing in the morning to use for the school day and connect them back to charging station before they leave school in the afternoon. Next year, those students will use the same laptops in 7th grade and incoming 6th grade students will receive new laptops. Oliver teachers are learning how to enhance their instruction with technology tools and resources including Schoology Enterprise, OneDrive, Classroom Notebook and various online apps.

Schoology Pilot at Oliver Middle School
Students at Oliver Middle School are accessing their assignments online from school and home with Schoology Enterprise, a learning management system. Teachers manage their courses by adding folders and materials including links, videos, files, quizzes, polls and more. Teachers save time by easily sharing content and grading assignments. Schoology Enterprise integrates with Infinite Campus so that teachers do not have to create courses or add their students. There is a free version of Schoology that can be used in buildings that are not participating in this pilot.

What Happened to the Clip Art Gallery?: Microsoft's Clip Art Now Powered by Bing Images as of January 2015
The new Microsoft Office option to add clip art or images that are not already saved to a Word or PowerPoint document, is to click Insert, Online Pictures, Bing Image Search (Bing Search is Microsoft’s version of Google Search). According to Microsoft, Bing Image Search provides images that are higher in resolution and more relevant.
Copyright laws prohibit the use of a portion of images students find online. To solve that problem, Bing Image Search will automatically apply a copyright filter to show only Bing results that are royalty-free using a filter based on the Creative Commons licensing system. These are images that you can use, share, or modify for either personal or commercial use, however, they do suggest validating their use. Hovering over the image with your mouse will reveal the image’s source.
